Economics
Besides being a large automobile, air and rail center, Odessa
is the largest sea port in Ukraine and is used to store and ship grain, sugar,
coal, oil products, metals, jute, timber and machine products. The port is also
the base for Ukraine’s navy and fishing fleet. The city’s industrial base
includes ship building, oil refining, machine tooling, metal working, food
processing, wood-working, agriculture and chemical processing. Large
health-resort center, possesses a number of beaches, convalescent homes and
centers arranging for the protection of the health of people.
